Democracy Among Westerners: Reality and Hopes

In my following of the news of the third British election in five years, I listened this morning, Friday, to a report stating that the leader of the British Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn ..announced that he will not lead his party in any future elections..but that he will remain party leader during this period in which new policies will be adopted after a process of assessing the implications of the results of the elections held yesterday, Thursday, in which the Labour Party suffered a defeat its leader described as "disappointing" as it won 203 seats in the British Parliament losing many seats compared to previous elections, while the first and strongest competitor, the Conservative Party led by Boris Johnson, achieved a large (comfortable) majority enabling Johnson as party leader to form a government alone. He obtained 364 seats..an increase of 47 seats over the last election held before that...!!
 What strikes one while following the fever of electoral competition in venerable democracies within them..like Britain...is how the reaction of the losing party leader is!..how he admits defeat!!... and his announcement that he will not lead his party in any forthcoming elections..with all the boldness of the responsible person and without hesitation..or singing his praises or enumerating his good deeds that he added to the country through his party..but that he will remain party leader during this period to personally supervise the party's evaluation process and the correction of policies.

 The electoral process that took place in Britain to resolve the political paralysis caused by the Conservatives' insistence on completing the Brexit deal (exit from the European Union), as announced by the Conservative Party. Whereas the Labour Party's goal was to hold "another referendum on Brexit" which brought joy. As for the other programs of the two main parties, the Conservative Party made clear its determination to restore confidence in the economy, including increasing spending on health, education and the police....and amending immigration laws..etc., while the Labour Party calls for increasing public spending and nationalizing main services and imposing taxes on the rich, provided that the goal of imposing taxes is not expenditure but rather the fair redistribution of wealth...and the Labour Party believes in "market economy"..both sides and the other parties' main concern is the interest of the country and its unity....the public interest is the foundation ...and not private interests..!!
 I liked the level of responsibility of both sides..and especially of the Labour Party which lost in the recent elections...with its leader's announcement that he will step down from leading the party, because he considers himself responsible for the party's policy failure as its leader. But he did not pass the responsibility for failure to another group of officials and search for a scapegoat or victims to be held responsible!!!..Simply.... he stepped down!!...because the party's failure is the failure of its leadership...As for the Conservatives under Johnson, he considered that the British people had entrusted him with completing the Brexit deal, and that he will deliver the results of this mandate — the election results — to the Queen ..to lead Britain for another five years ..according to the party's program..!!

 I admire the scent and ceremonies of democracy and freedom. And the altruism and fear of the observing people they have there!!.. I wish it for my nation whose officials fight and wreck the country, and divide it, remaining forever fixed in seats of leadership..and the false, pale responsibility..whether governmental or factional or party or departmental or ministerial ...or bodies or unions....they do not move from falsely singing about gains for the people!!...they bequeath the positions...they make vital decisions..without the slightest consideration for their peoples or their representatives in parliaments or legislative or representative councils..in addition to corrupting and controlling these councils, or their subordinates, indeed even subjugating and starving and humiliating peoples and crushing them and spreading terror in their hearts by all means and cutting off livelihoods...they fail in their curricula...and negotiate for many years and fail and oversee dragging their peoples ...to the abyss as a result of their monopolization...with their opinions and that they are the only ones capable of leading their peoples or departments or ministries...so much so that they do not believe in their deputies or in cultivating a second tier of officials to shoulder responsibility...in case of crises of failure.

I liked what the US Congress is doing to protect the American Constitution from procedures to try American President Trump...in a case described by the representatives of the American people in Congress as dereliction of duty and abuse of power.., it is oversight..and democracy and freedom...and creativity..they have..
 Just as I like what is happening of the Israeli Prime Minister being brought to trial on a charge of bribery...(of course the bribe amount is not astronomical..)..despite all the benefits and history of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for Israel..who served several long terms as head of government where he had the confidence of his people..through successive elections..but when he violated the system...according to standards they have!!...he was referred to court automatically, without favor or mediation or pressure.......!! And before him their Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin resigned voluntarily!! when his wife opened an account for her in a bank outside Israel, with a few hundreds of dollars only, at a time when opening accounts abroad was prohibited in Israel...(the occupying state)

 I ask — rather we all ask — whom will the Arab official be afraid of?..Of oversight!..Of parties! Of the opposition!..Of representative, legislative or parliamentary councils, if they exist!!.Of unions! . Of other factions! Of civil society!...even of the whole people...!!

 And at the same time, I absolutely do not like hearing the news that Major General "Khalifa Haftar" or "the 'Marshal'" as I heard recently, announced the advance on the city of Tripoli, the Libyan capital...to declare its liberation from the Government of National Accord...which is part of the Libyan people..and he boasts that Tripoli will be liberated, the civilized city!! ..is not the result of this supposed liberation the falling of victims and the displacement of people! and the cessation of life throughout Libya..!!! Why?. Who authorized you, O Marshal? Is it the black money? Or the New Middle East group?...you kill your people and squander their wealth to cling to the chair of leadership!! aided by conspirators from other countries ..and terrorist groups ..to control and to appoint yourself..president of the country..!!..The Libyan people are being killed and Libya is being killed and with it Arabism..which had glory in the past!!..killed by some of its sons,the tyrants who implement external agendas...!!..

We wish good for the Arab peoples, and I wish that we envy foreign officials and import for ourselves programs and copies of implementations of their democracy programs in their countries.!! This does not diminish the previous glorious history of Arabism....and that our officials in the Arab world do not wait long..and that they inoculate themselves with courage and responsibility and voluntarily ...with doses of democracy ...and step aside when stepping aside is required.!!...and not wait for natural disasters to remove them and the end of their senility....or for a spring to arrive borne of oppressed peoples ..even if stirred by foreigners abroad or at home..or by relatives stamped with normalization!!...to bring you labor with death or exile without honor..!!..Do not boast about ceilings of freedom and justice and equality ..to your peoples..for the people know your terms and vocabulary ..and know that they are empty of substance and at least do not represent reality as it is...!!..Your peoples are a support to you when justice and freedom prevail at your hands..!!

 It is true that the remarks we expressed of admiration for the practice of democracy there in the countries that led occupation and colonization of our countries and others for centuries and decades!!..and still..that is another story!!......However, there is nothing to prevent importing a medicine made by those foreign colonizers to cure an illness for which we have not been able to invent a treatment ourselves..!! Not a shame!! Nor is there anything to prevent importing and using a smart communication device such as the iPhone or Samsung ..etc from all kinds of technology ..to exchange knowledge and information..and bridge distances..made by them and we cannot make it....we also have no shame! An opinion....!
