'He Who Is Covered by His Own Blanket Says His Kin Are Cold' (Arab Financial Safety Net)

· Where is the Arab Safety Net network and umbrella of the mute Arab League? ....Only $5 million for Palestine in 2023..!

· This is what Palestinians who are being killed daily, every morning and evening, say.. what is happening in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank..and to every Palestinian across the world..is a continuation of a frenzied campaign to exterminate the rightful owner of his usurped land...in Palestine for more than 76 years..a tight siege on every outlet of Palestine by air, land and sea..and such a siege is not limited to Israel alone..there are partners in secrecy and openly...neighbors participate as foreigners do..in the process of "cutting the green grass"...grief and pain..as you see the children, women, elders and youth..who were not saved by taking refuge behind or under what remains of school walls, or hospital columns..or tents made from the torn clothes of the martyrs, used to make makeshift tents....the world forgot, including the mute Arab League..that there are meals of shredded bodies of children and women in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank..scattered here and there by the dozens and the wounded by the hundreds..daily..and the killers and collaborators..are busy..arranging the post-destruction and killing and burning phase. After more than 300 days, who will do the reconstruction..who will finance it..who will supervise over land that was annihilated..and became a bare flat plain, and a people riddled with wounds...!

· We Palestinians..still repeat that we are part of one Arab and Islamic nation..and we do not lose hope..even if the depth of these wounds and pains of our Palestinian people are from those nearest to us..

· I write about the Arab Safety Net network for Palestine...where is it..which has been formed dozens of times in the aftermath of Arab summit meetings..to support the Arab nation for Palestine..but most of that was mirage..except for the heart that fluttered in some Arab leaders..and ordered the transfer of 19 million shekels which hardly equals five million US dollars..!

· I reviewed external support for the State of Palestine by examining the Ministry of Finance and Planning in Ramallah’s 2023 data (Table No. 6 – External Support), and it appears that external support to the State of Palestine throughout 2023 amounted to 1,315 million shekels, that is approximately $360 million from all countries of the world. Of that, support to the Palestinian budget for 2023 was 755 million shekels, i.e. the equivalent of $207 million. From this external support, Arab support under the item "Arab grant" to support the budget amounted to only 19 million shekels, i.e. approximately $5 million, paid by the State of Iraq in September 2023...only...and no Arab country paid any amount at all, even among the countries that had previously provided some funds..

· As for Arab support during the first five months of this year (up to May -5- 2024), as stated in the Ministry of Finance and Planning in Ramallah’s data, external support to the budget up to month 5 of this year 2024 amounted to 538 million shekels, i.e. approximately $147 million. The Arab grant this year up to month 5-2024 amounted to 193 million shekels, i.e. about $53 million, provided by the State of Algeria..only..

· Where is the Arab umbrella..and the Arab Safety Net network..which was formed on paper many times, and before the genocidal war that Israel is waging against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank....there is no voice, no sensation, no news..the Arab rural proverb is true which says.."the one who is covered by his blanket, his kin are cold". When a person asks for help in bitterly cold days, relatives and kin offer blankets and garments..what relatives and kin offer hardly gives a feeling of warmth..a bandage..so what about when a person faces annihilation...he calls on his kin to extend a hand to provide water and medicine and cover and food...True that there is aid for the people of Gaza..but it is stopped and cannot cross from an Arab land to an Arab Palestinian land — Rafah crossing — it is awaiting an order from the owner of the land and sovereignty..who is awaiting an order from occupied Israel..to push it across the border into Palestine. People died of thirst and hunger and disease..while they wait for an interpretation of the clauses of the peace treaty between the sister state and occupied Israel..do its clauses permit passing assistance to the people in the burning neighboring area who are dying and being exterminated..or not..and the aid remains stuck up to now..that we are a nation that respects treaties even at the expense of the lives of peoples from those nearest to us..."

· Thinking about such matters is unbearable..but we still repeat that we are a people of one Arab and Islamic nation..and we will not abandon that...we as Palestinians. May God grant success and victory and freedom....even if time is long...May God protect Palestine and its people.."
