Information Leak - Timing and Significance

10-1-2018
In recent times we have been inundated with leaks of telephone conversations and video tapes between persons from the intelligence service of an Arab state and notable public figures and people from the worlds of art and media to market some of the projects arising from the "Deal of the Century" which are on the desks of the American administration concerning the Middle East...
Leaks of information are not new. There is WikiLeaks, which was established in 2006 as a non-profit organization, run by the Australian Julian Assange, which leaked hundreds of thousands of secret documents and communications around the world, beginning with documents from the U.S. State Department, and reaching the Middle East. It leaked half a million documents from the Saudi Foreign Ministry which revealed how Saudi Arabia implemented its policy on regional and international files through the use of money and religious actors. Also, the American newspaper "The Intercept" published leaked information and documents from the email of the UAE Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba in Washington; these leaks reveal the extent of Emirati intervention in the affairs of various countries in the region through back channels to enhance its regional influence..These leaks also exposed the Abu Dhabi-Israel alliance which dates back to before 2009, as confirmed by WikiLeaks, and that site disclosed the volume of trade exchange between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv which exceeded $1 billion, in addition to the operation of a daily flight between the two countries...etc..
These leaks remind us of the story of the Bolshevik revelation in October 1917 of the archive of the Sykes-Picot agreement between Britain and France, which is now more than one hundred years old, and which drew the borders of the Middle East and divided the lands of the Ottoman Empire between Britain and France. In that agreement approximately one million square kilometers of the Ottoman Empire's lands were allocated to Russia were it not for the Bolshevik Revolution....This agreement was executed and the map of the Middle East was changed at the time.
We also recall the declassification of political secret documents in some Western countries after 30 years, and in Israel after more than forty years, excluding of course documents that threaten the national security of those countries. Our memory returns to the incident in which an Israeli nuclear technician leaked information about Israel's nuclear weapons program to the British press in 1986.

In truth, not all leaks are deliberate; electronic breaches occur, and whether intentional or unintentional, in many cases they are leaked to the press which prides itself on its journalistic scoop. However, other circles exploit these leaks for their purposes, including deception and the creation of doubts as happens in our region in the Middle East, and secret information is utilized and presented to the media at a time when the region is undergoing a program that seeks a chaos described as creative, aiming to rearrange agendas in a new and greater Middle East with political, social, and cultural problems and crises. Politicians and policy-makers and project designers may also wish to gauge public reactions to their projects before a trial publication of information is made, and denial may occur in many cases, which in turn confuses the public in its effort to determine the credibility of the information.
In our Arab world, it seems that the public's reaction is shock at first, and some demonstrations which quickly subside afterward, and then the projects are passed according to the planned schemes. Such is the Deal of the Century, one of these projects. It is proceeding rapidly and in a coordinated manner until matters reach a stage described in torture as "the illusion of drowning", and the freezing of funding to the Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, the cancellation of financial assistance, and the drying up of aid streams from other countries are only one of multiple torture operations to create voluntary obedience among peoples to injustice and enslavement.
