Global economic leaders at the Davos Forum in 2014....said "If you are not present, you do not exist"...."Everyone who wants to be a major figure goes to it"....!

The Forum meetings began yesterday 22 May (May) 2022, and are expected to end on 26-May, at the mountain resort of Davos–Klosters in Switzerland – as stated by Klaus Schwab, who is the founder – CEO – of the World Economic Forum.

Delegations of the global political and economic elite began arriving in Davos after two years of the World Economic Forum suspending in-person meetings due to the COVID-19 pandemic (2020).

The Forum was founded in 1971.. Schwab – the Forum’s founder – said during a briefing this week, "Russia’s aggression will remain in the history books a collapse of the order that was born after World War II and the Cold War," stressing that the Forum will do everything it can to support Ukraine and rebuild it.

He announced that Ukrainian President Zelenskyy will this Monday be the first president to deliver his speech and address the Forum via video, while many Ukrainian officials will participate in person...in contrast, Russian participants are absent from the event..!

The head of the Forum "Brendi" considered that excluding Russia was "the right decision," adding "but we hope that Russia will follow a different path in the coming years in respect of the United Nations Charter"..!

It appears that the conflict in Ukraine will cast a shadow over its sessions, but the program includes discussions on various topics ranging from climate change and the sharp rise in energy prices to concerns of a global food crisis and gender inequality; however, there are global challenges expected during the coming decades....such as climate change, the environment, economic conditions, shortages in global supply security, geopolitical risks and energy security, making fairer economies, technology and innovation, jobs and skills and improving the business environment, health and healthcare, international cooperation, society and justice, and others..these are important topics on the Forum’s agenda..

The Forum is an international non-profit organization aimed at developing the world by encouraging business, policy and scientific aspects. "Back-channel diplomacy" in Davos is particularly known for discussions that take place on the margins of the official program, and the number of attendees this year is estimated to reach 2,500 participants, including many company leaders, and more than 50 heads of state and government..among them German Chancellor Scholz, the Emir of Qatar, and the U.S. climate envoy John Kerry, while top-tier figures such as the Chinese or American president are absent.

Ruth Sørbøum, Professor of Sociology at Stockholm University, who co-authored a book about the Forum, said about back-channel diplomacy that when she attended Davos in 2014, economic leaders were saying "If you are not present, you do not exist".."Everyone who wants to be a major figure goes to it"...

The Global Risks Report 2022 was released after the closing of the Forum sessions on 26 May – this month – due to its utmost importance in reviewing experts’ expectations in economics, technology and politics in the coming years up to 2030 and even 2050, and these risks include some that are short-term..3–5 years and some that are beyond the 10-year horizon, such as the erosion of social cohesion in at least 31 countries such as Argentina, France and Germany..and some G20 countries, drought, environment and climate change, public (sovereign) debt risks, geopolitical confrontations over resource sources and their scarcity..and increasing poverty and a large rise in unemployment resulting from digital technological development that will send millions of workers unskilled in the new technology back to their homes. Added to that are technology risks, information security, in addition to arms risks and restrictions on global trade exchange..and rising prices of resources..in addition to their scarcity..and disruption in the stability of carbon-dependent energy markets..which will lose their market opportunities in the long term, and many countries will shift via technology to alternative energy sources..etc. among these risks..

Palestine attends the Davos Economic Conference represented by its Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh..in addition to a number of Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia..

·      And regarding this gathering..in the Davos huts in Switzerland"back-channel diplomacy", we can only say.....O Allah, grant us the good of this conference...and keep us away from the evils of its back-channels….what appears of them and what is hidden......O Allah, amen..
