● In the wake of the condemnation of the founder of the Davos Economic Forum, and its executive chairman Klaus Schwab – of German origin –, for what he called "Hamas’s terrorist attacks against Israel", and his call for measures to protect civilians in Gaza, businessmen, political leaders, experts, and billionaires headed to Davos to attend the fifty-fourth annual meeting in 2024 of the World Economic Forum (WEF), where "backroom diplomacy" in Davos is well known, especially the discussions that take place on the margins of the official program, which economic leaders said: "If you are not present, you do not exist"..everyone who wants to be a major figure goes to it"...!!
● The fifty-fourth annual meeting of the Forum is being held against the backdrop of the Gaza war, Ukraine, the artificial intelligence revolution, the cost-of-living crisis, and the issue of climate change, in an event that lasts five days, which began from 1/15 to 1/19/2024 (today), and attendance was estimated at more than 2800 participants. This year’s Forum includes more than 300 public figures, including over 60 heads of state and government, and will host meetings of leaders and politicians; alongside others representing diverse regions, and international organizations will play an important role. The Forum is not limited to politics; it brings together representatives from various sectors. More than 1600 business leaders will participate in the conference, including 800 senior chief executives, joined by 150 global innovators and technology pioneers, and 530 executives in banking, insurance and investment, according to the Forum’s agenda!
● It is an annual event in which the elite discuss the most pressing issues of the current year, under the slogan "Rebuilding Trust", to discuss the importance of consolidating international relations and restoring confidence in the future, within societies and among the world’s countries, according to observers! It is worth noting that the Forum was founded in January 1971 by German economics professor Klaus Schwab, as a non-profit institution aimed at improving the world by encouraging business, policy, and scientific aspects.
● The Forum’s agenda addresses the complex dynamics in the Middle East and highlights recent tensions, in the presence of officials from Qatar, Jordan, Egypt and Israel, with the State of Palestine apparently absent, while a special session will be held on the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, affirming the urgent need to address regional unrest and other geopolitical tensions from the conflict in Europe and the Middle East, and the growing tensions between the United States and China, making geopolitics another major topic of discussion!
● Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan requested that his country’s officials not attend the World Economic Forum this year in "Davos" because of the organizers’ stance on Israel’s war on Gaza, according to "Bloomberg".
● Saudi Foreign Minister said on 1/16/2024, on the sidelines of his attendance at the fifty-fourth annual meeting of the Davos Economic Forum in 2024, that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will recognize Israel if the Palestinian issue is resolved. Foreign Minister PrinceFaisalbinFarhan, during a panel discussion at the Davos Global Forum, said that Saudi Arabia could recognize Israel as part of a broader agreement after resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had discussed in Saudi Arabia normalization with Israel and the post-war phase in Gaza. Farhan also stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, considering that the continuation of suffering in Gaza will lead to cycles of escalation.
● The Qatari Prime Minister said at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos that Israel’s demand to agree to a mandatory, time-bound pathway to a two-state solution is the key to future political stability in Israel and the Palestinian territories, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani added that the Palestinians are the ones who should decide whether the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which governs Gaza, will continue to play a political role in the future!
● World Economic Forum Chairman Børge Brende said on Tuesday 1/16/2024, the second day of the Forum, of the need for innovative cooperation between the public and private sectors to confront urgent global challenges. The Forum, held under the slogan "Rebuilding Trust", aims to restore collective capacity and strengthen the fundamental principles of transparency, consistency, and accountability among leaders.
● The topic of artificial intelligence stands out as a pivotal point at the Forum, as a driving force for the economy and society", in addition to discussing our governance of artificial intelligence, in response to growing concerns about the impact of the technology. Also discussed are ethics in the age of artificial intelligence and job displacement, where nearly 40% - 60% of jobs worldwide could be affected by the rise of artificial intelligence, and attendees will discuss the issue of AI-generated misinformation as an urgent global threat, and ensuring equal access to technology!
● The second major topic of discussion is climate change – global warming – against the backdrop of rising global temperatures to unprecedented levels,
● And about the elections this year, "the world votes" (that is, half the world’s population will go to the polls in 2024), with many major countries approaching pivotal elections this year, and important elections also taking place in Taiwan, India, Mexico, and the United States... Leaders are concerned about how these events might reshape international alliances and economic policies.!
● As for this gathering... in Davos’s huts in Switzerland... we have nothing to say except.....May God spare us the evils of its backrooms and the understandings of its huts in Davos....what is apparent and what is hidden......Amen..!
