● It is understood that friendships and relationships between individuals remain constant over the years,.... but political ties, strategic relations, and partnerships between states...... dissolve when the equations, strategies, and interests of the relevant states change, and when the algorithms of their calculations change, when one state becomes a burden on another..!
● There are many examples in the world of international relations. For example, the United States of America, the strongest country in the world, whose favor, loyalty, and boasting of being its ally, strategic partner, and protector are courted by many regimes in the world... headed by Israel...... This great power over the years abandoned many of its allies... when interests, political visions... and realities changed.!! Where friendship was replaced by enmity, and vice versa..!
● The first example is: Taiwan... for the sake of China.. Taiwan was expelled from the United Nations!
● The United States had been one of the biggest supporters of Nationalist China (Taiwan), ...for since the founding of the UnitedNations in 1945, the Republic of China was one of the five permanent members of the Security Council... when China’s seat was originally held, since 1945, by the Nationalist government of the Republic of China (National China), which was known as Taiwan. — Formosa (Chiang Kai-shek). With American support and sponsorship...!
● Nationalist China lost the Chinesecivilwar, and retreated to the island of Taiwan in 1949, when the Chinese Communist Party seized most of mainland China and established the People’s Republic of China.!
● Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, the United States refused to recognize the regime of Chinese leader Mao Zedong (Mao Zedong) and instead recognized the Chiang Kai-shek (Chiang Kai-shek) regime that fled to the island of Taiwan as the legitimate representative of the Chinese people. The Americans continued to refuse to recognize the People’s Republic of China for about 30 years, during which time the United States strongly pushed to grant China’s seat at the United Nations to the government based in Taiwan.
● The severity of the hostility between Washington and Beijing continued throughout the 1950s and 1960s, before the crisis began to ease gradually during the 1970s, during Richard Nixon’s presidency, who is said to have sought to use the People’s Republic of China card to pressure Moscow and increase its isolation amid the Cold War.!
● In 1971, the United Nations passed Resolution No. 2758 at its meeting on 25 October 1971, thereby officially excluding the Republic of China from the organization and granting its seat to the People’s Republic of China led by Mao Zedong, with 76 countries voting in favor of the resolution, 35 opposing, and 17 abstaining; thus the Republic of China (Taiwan) lost its UN recognition.!
● In mid-December 1978, U.S. President Jimmy Carter issued a statement announcing that his country would recognize the People’s Republic of China officially in the new year, and would, on the other hand, sever its relations with Taiwan, acceding to the wishes of Chinese officials, in addition to ending the operation of the mutual defense treaty between the two countries (signed in 1954) unilaterally!
● In 1978, China considered itself a united front with the United States , and Japan, and Western Europe , against the Soviets, and therefore it established diplomatic relations with the United States in 1979, and supported American operations in communist Afghanistan..!
● However, the United States enacted the Taiwan Relations Act on April 10, 1979. The Act defined, since recognition of the People’sRepublicof China, the basic but non-diplomatic relations between the American people and the Taiwanese people. The Carter administration signed the Taiwan Relations Act with the aim of preserving cultural, commercial, and other relations through unofficial relations, without official governmental representation and without formal diplomatic relations!
● The second example of the United States abandoning its allies is: the former Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who turned his country, since assuming power in 1949, into a will-less follower of the United States, and employed all of Iran’s capabilities, including the SAVAK apparatus, and its resources in service of Washington’s policy and its regional and international objectives, before being left to face alone the inevitable fate of overthrow.!!
● In those times.. every American administration that dealt with the Shah closed its eyes to the practices of the “Gulf policeman” against his people throughout the 38 years he spent in power, but when the Iranian revolution broke out, the Americans demanded that the Shah Pahlavi relinquish his throne and leave Iran!!
● The abandonment of the Shah reached the point that the United States closed its doors to its former ally, who found no place to treat his cancer except in Panama, before the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat hosted him in Cairo, where he drew his last breath as a lonely exile. (Source Al Jazeera)!
● The third example is: the deposed Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, where the United States contributed to his rise to power in 1965, and Marcos throughout his years of rule sought to repay Washington, making his country its proxy in Southeast Asia, and filled Philippine territory with American bases.!!
● All of that did not save Marcos when the people rose against him in 1986, led by Corazon Aquino, and he finally yielded to the request of the American ambassador in Manila to leave the country, and fled with his wife Imelda to Hawaii where he died there!!
● The fourth example: Sudanese President Jaafar Nimeiry, where the United States in 1986 refused to receive him on its soil as a political refugee after the Sudanese revolution against him, and the Americans forgot the services Nimeiry had rendered to them, especially his alleged burial of their nuclear waste in his country, and his help in relocating the Beta Israel Jews from Ethiopia to occupied Palestine.!!
● The fourth example: the former Panamanian President Manuel Noriega: the same American scenario was repeated with Noriega — who is now serving a 19-year prison sentence in French prisons after serving years in American prisons on charges of assassinating political opponents — after he was incited by the United States in 1983 to carry out a coup in which he disposed of President Omar Torrijos, who had ended American influence in Panama and nationalized its canal!!
● It should be noted that the administrations of President Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush turned a blind eye to Noriega’s involvement in the drug trade throughout his rule, but Bush Sr. soon realized that the ruler of Panama had become a burden on Washington, so he sent a U.S. military unit in 1989 that arrested Noriega and brought him to an American prison.!!
● Example five: Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf — in 2008, former U.S. President George W. Bush abandoned one of his most prominent allies, former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, as he fell under the pressure of the boiling Pakistani street, and Musharraf left power without the Americans so much as batting an eye, despite having turned Pakistan into an advanced U.S. military and intelligence hub in its war on so-called terrorism.!!
● Example six: the deposed Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali: America abandoned Zine El Abidine despite his long record of service to it at home and abroad,... and press reports stated that the flight of the former Tunisian president came after Washington instructed Army Commander Rashid Ammar to let Ben Ali fall!!
● And other examples: the Americans abandoned allied rulers who were widely despised by their people, most notably the Chilean Augusto Pinochet, the Georgian Eduard Shevardnadze, etc.!
● Israel....now enjoys special American support and embrace since its founding in 1948..yet we do not forget..in the midst of preceding events...that when Eisenhower was president, the White House issued a warning to Israel, France and Britain after their tripartite aggression against Egypt on 29-10-1956, to stop the aggression and withdraw immediately from Egypt..following a warning from Soviet President Nikita Khrushchev, who had issued a warning in this regard to the aggressor states to stop the aggression and withdraw..but the American warning was strict and sufficient for Britain and France to withdraw on 22-12-1956, and for Israel to withdraw in March 1957...after fierce Egyptian resistance.., and it was reported that the American president said to his French ambassador, “You must withdraw from Egypt; there is no way for us except that you adhere to the United Nations Charter,” and the final word from Washington came in the form of a letter from the American president to Ben-Gurion saying that if the reports reaching us about your refusal to withdraw are true, “it will be my regret that we will be forced to adopt a policy toward Israel that will affect the friendly cooperation between us.”
● In this regard, this American position can be interpreted as hiding real reasons for the U.S. restraint, as U.S. Ambassador John Badeau in Egypt in those days said: “No Western state can henceforth successfully conduct its policy in the Arab homeland if it conflicts with America’s policy; European policy has become the addition, and American policy is the foundation.”
● There is nothing surprising if one day we see the United States or Western countries step away from Israel steps...further back...from the limits of the protective fence the West places around it..! It is...a very fine hair, as they say “the hair of Muawiya”.....in the face of changing algorithms of interests..!
