The Citizen Is Our Most Valuable Asset... But...

- The Customs Enforcement crews and several other authorities closed restaurants in the West Bank for lacking health safety conditions, while these crews, in addition to units from the Military Intelligence in the governorates of Ramallah and Al-Bireh and Jerusalem, on Tuesday 7-8-2018, and after receiving information from a Palestinian citizen, were able to seize 12 tons of rotten chicken pieces, expired products, and offal unfit for human consumption, in the town of Al-Ram north of Jerusalem... These reports said that these spoiled goods were imported from Israel ...including the settlements..by smuggling them through Palestinian areas classified as (C)...according to the Oslo Agreement..1993..

- Such news causes goosebumps ...and adds a terrifying worry for citizens, due to the spread and recurrence of this phenomenon that devastates the public health of citizens, in addition to shaking confidence in the meals ...provided by restaurants to their patrons..."

- While we salute all the competent security apparatuses and administrations, which were and still are continuing their work to clamp down on such practices that cause panic and loss of confidence in some of the country’s tourism arms - the restaurants - we hope that the violators will be struck with an iron hand. It should be noted that there are reports - according to the account of Wafa news agency -..that some of the restaurants that were closed have been reopened...under the pretext that they complied and their situations were regularized after they fulfilled the required health safety conditions..!!!!!

- What is worrying is that the smuggling of spoiled food and goods unfit for human use....from Israel and its settlements..into areas under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian National Authority, is carried out between Israeli and Palestinian citizens, and we must not be lax in taking deterrent and disciplinary measures against the violating restaurants, and against those who smuggle tons of spoiled foodstuffs into the Palestinian market....especially since such incidents have recurred many times in the past, and included other categories such as medicines ...and others, and while we salute the citizens for their vigilance, which was one of the main reasons for the arrest of the perpetrators..we direct an appeal to the competent authorities to treat such incidents as crimes against citizens...and that there should be no leniency with these killers...and to take the harshest penalties against them to punish them, and to deter any future attempt to tamper with citizens’ health ..the occupation’s ongoing crimes against the Palestinian person and his land are enough..."

- The citizen is the most precious thing we own.....so we hope that this is in fact true...!!!
